A heart attack occurs when the supply of blood to the heart is low or completely zero. The stoppage of blood to the heart occurs due to the formation of fat, cholesterol, or other unnecessary particles that block the arteries that supply blood to the heart. This blockage is known as plaque.
It is a serious condition because plaque can destroy heart muscles and can prove life-threatening for you. Another name for a heart attack is myocardial infarction. Medical treatment of a heart attack is possible; however, the patient will need immediate assistance.
